Miss Laureen

Laureen Currie is a life-long dancer, who got her start at the young age of 3. She is a qualified member of the Canadian Dance Teacher’s Association, Stage Division and has completed the advanced level examinations in tap and jazz (CDTA – Canadian Dance Teacher’s Association), and ballet (RAD – Royal Academy of Dance).

Miss Laureen has competed in numerous dance competitions in Minneapolis, Chicago, Detroit, New York, Winnipeg and Toronto, and loved every minute of it. She has also danced abroad, and had the opportunity to travel to Spain and perform with the FGDC troupe.

She has been a dance instructor at Fay Gleeson Dance Centre for the past 19 years, teaching competitive dancers in ballet, tap, jazz and lyrical jazz. Not only is Miss Currie a qualified dance instructor, she has also been a teacher with the Lakehead District School Board (drama, dance, English and Special Education) for the past 11 years and during her time away from the studio, she has choreographed a variety of local high school drama productions.
